Since 1977, the Roscoff Biological Station has carried out long-term monitoring of macrobenthic populations at several points in the bay of Morlaix. Initiated following the pollution of the bottom of the bay by hydrocarbons from the Amoco Cadiz, these series then made it possible to describe the impact of a major anthropogenic disturbance on the diversity of marine communities and the processes of recolonization.
Two points are monitored in the Bay of Morlaix

River of Morlaix (near Locquénolé)
The sustainability of these observations now provides a unique set of data to understand the dynamics and evolution of benthic populations and settlements in response to natural and/or anthropogenic variability in environmental conditions (e.g. climate change , eutrophication, pollution, introduction of exotic species). Originally implemented using the station's own resources, monitoring was carried out from 1990 to 2006 as part of the National Marine Environment Quality Observation Network (RNO). Between 2007 and 2014, they were very partially integrated into the REBENT program ( http://www.rebent.org/ ) coordinated by Ifremer.
The Pierre Noire point is a support point for the DCE and DCSMM surveillance programs.- Project website
